
Creating
a Website with Weebly
Create an account
a. Choose a
user name you will remember
b. Choose a password you will
remember
c. Enter your email address so if you FORGET either,
Weebly can contact you
d. Accept their terms
e. Click to start
Give your first website a title –
you can make multiple website with one account so you may want to
start with a trial site title, like My First Website
a. Click
Continue
Choose a design for your site
a. Click the Designs tab at the
top of the page
b. Simply point at one of the design thumbnails
and wait a second to see how your page will look
c. NOTE: the
design applies to all pages in that website – you can't “mix and
match”
d. When you come to one you like, click on it. You can
always change it later.
Add 2 pages
a. Click the Pages
tab at the top of the page
b. Give the page a title – for a
trial site call the first one Page 1
c. Click Save at the
bottom
d. Repeat this process to create another page – you can
add a blog page with the same process
e. NOTE: you now have 3
pages on your site – a homepage, Page 1 and Page 2
Edit you Home page
a. Click on
the Elements tab at the top of the page
b. Click and drag
the icon called Paragraph with title onto your home page – let
go
c. Click in the Title block and type a title for this
paragraph or page
d. Click in the Paragraph block and type a
couple sentences
e. You can highlight any text and use the text
editing icons on the page to change color, size, alignment and a few
other things, but you can't change fonts. Basic web fonts are used
on all pages.
f. To add typed content to another page, first
click on the page name in the navigation bar
Add a Picture
a. Click on Home
in your nav bar
b. Click and drag the icon called Paragraph with
Picture onto your page. You may place this element above or below
your text blocks and rearrange them later if you'd like.
c. Get
your picture ready. Have one on your desktop to upload easily.
d.
Click on Sample Image. Now
find Upload New Image just
above your work area on the left and click there.
e. When the
browsing window opens, locate the picture you want to place and
choose it.
f. Set the Border
option and Position
option for the picture. If you want a few more alignment options,
click on Advanced to the right.
g. If you would like to link
your picture to a website, first copy the website address, then
click on Set Link
above the work area and paste the address in the appropriate line.
Publish
your site
a. Click the Publish
button at the top right.
b. Choose a site address that you'll
remember. It will be added to the weebly.com address so your final
web address will read something like
http://koelkertest.weebly.com
c.
Click on the link to your page in the next window to see how it
looks LIVE.
Log out and log back in to make sure your account works and to make more web stuff!
